Hawkesbury Riveraine

La Riveraine is a classic ’50’s’ riverside cottage and a little bit French. Overflowing with warmth, authentic charm and tranquility, it sits peacefully in a stunning, boat access only location on the Hawkesbury river.
Beautifully restored with careful attention to detail the cottage offers guests privacy and serenity.
The original boat shed just below the cottage has been saved, giving guests a private haven right on the water.
With no road access, and only one hour from the CBD this is the ultimate destination that gives a whole new meaning to 'getting away from it all’.
During the long summer months when it is hot on the Hawkesbury, the crystal clear plunge pool, and cool terraces that catch the breeze off the water offer supreme outdoor comfort. Air-conditioning inside.
In winter time, a log combustion fire, electric blankets  and reverse cycle heating ensure a cosy and intimate atmosphere.
The cottage is stylishly understated, fresh and airy; wide steel frame windows suffuse it with light and allow beautiful and expansive views out over the Hawkesbury river.
The air is unpolluted, the wooden floors lime washed and the walls chalked to make this a toxin free environment.

The secluded plunge/spa pool in the tropical terrace garden is a refuge in the heat of summer, and a magical place to swim at midnight under the stars whilst watching the moon on the water.

During the cooler months the pool is heated.
The Boat House is the perfect place to take a siesta in the hammock, stretch out on a Recliner, or simply relax in a big cane chair and drop a fishing line into the water. For Al Fresco dining there are three private terraces:   - the covered verandah overlooking the river, the secluded Frangipani and potted Citrus terrace garden, and the enclosed stone courtyard at the back for outdoor cooking.
There are several dry stone wall terraces at the back where we have planted Lavender and Olive trees - still growing. Up beyond the terraces are hundreds of acres of Australian bush and the wildlife that goes with it. Blissfully quiet, La Riveraine is nestled behind a giant Jacaranda and a thriving Mulberry tree, set up above the water’s edge, facing North East.
La Riveraine is not just another ‘rental’.  It is our home, and your home for as long as you wish to make it.
There are no roads and no vehicles,  just the sounds of boats passing by, people out walking, night fishermen, or flying boats taking guests to restaurants on the river.
Transport in to this boat access only property is either by water taxi, hire boat, hire tinny, ferry (one ferry on weekdays) or own boat.
For people with their own boat it is also possible to have the use of our private jetty and pontoon.
